Fishing has always been at the heart of Bimini Bay

From names such as “Horse Mackerel” to “Big Bonita,” the island of Bimini has been heralded for its pool of big game fishing dating back as early as the 1920’s. Although the blue waters are brimming with grouper, snapper, yellowtail and Wahoo, catching marlin and tuna is one of the fun challenges for avid anglers. Setting the standards and well-regarded reputation of the island was Mrs. Betty Moore, who in1933, assisted in catching a 502 pound blue marlin, establishing Bimini as the world’s big game fishing hot spot. By 1949, big game fishermen were crossing the Gulf Stream in increasing numbers from all parts of the world, including the U.S., England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Nigeria, Canada and more. Today, Bimini Bay Resort & Marina has the largest marina on the island and another marina opening this summer.

These will make Bimini Bay Resort & Marina one of the grandest marinas in all the Caribbean. The new marina coming this summer will have slips ranging in size from 40 feet to over 200 feet.
